INTO OUR SKIES

About the project - Into Our Skies aims to encourage people of all ages to come together and be inspired by the universe we share.

Championing curiosity in deep space and dance, Into Our Skies is an Astro-Dance project from Lucy Starkey Dances that features live performance, curriculum linked resources and outreach.

"The sparkling and mysterious night sky has long captured my imagination. When I stop and look up, I am fascinated; I giddily imagine what it would be like to swim through Space, leap from one star to the next, tumble and roll down craters on the Moon...I set out creating Into Our Skies to transport people, to share the sense of awe and adventure I get when I look up and in to the unknown, and what better way of doing this than with dance!" (Lucy, on making the show)

The project comprises the following Astro-dance experiences:

18 minute solo show

Accompanying dance workshops

The scheme includes:

  • 3 interactive educational videos that teach the National Curriculum Earth and Space topic through active dance sessions.
  • Teacher notes to give insight to the science and dance explored and aid progression.
  • Classroom investigations

Project funded by an STFC Sparks Award
