COTTON

COTTON by About Time dance Company is a site-responsive dance work for 3 professional dancers and a community cast; illuminating processes of cotton production in Lancashire. Research and development for the piece included team visits to Helmshore Spinning Mill, Queen Street Weaving Mill and Quarry Bank Mill and collaboration with Lancashire dialect historian, Sid Calderbank.

Loom rhythms, traditional Lancashire clog dancing and poetry are woven through the dance (choreography by Jenny Reeves) and its captivating sound score (Lee Affen).

Cotton toured to mills and towns of Lancashire. Connecting with its audiences through live performances which bring the industrial heritage of these places to life.
